Welcome, Sit down, and make yourself comfortable.

Over the past year & 1/2 I have found myself unable to do some of the things that i have considered part of me.  Playing drums, taking TKD.  Mainly because of this wonderful tendonitis in my right elbow.  It causes me a great deal of pain when i "over use" it.  I also have little to no grip strength in my right hand.  Im working on this, and it has gotten a little better with the lack of use, i do not want surgery, and i still work 10-13+ hrs a day in front of a pc, so im not 100% "not using" the arm.

I say all that to take us to what is my focus these days (focus.. haha play on words).

Back in the good old days of the early 80s (and i mean like 80-82) I was in high school and was on the yearbook team, as well as the paper.

What did i do?  well i took photos, lots of them.

Then I graduated, moved, started a full time job, got married, divorced, re-married, had a kid, etc etc etc.

I still took "photos" but i was in no was doing "photography", these are not the same.

I have started getting back into Photography and Im really enjoying the crap out of it.  I find it relaxes me, allows me to do things while im working out of town (which is about 70% of my year these days).  Im not great, im very much just an amateur, learning, trying to figure it all out.

I know we have some amazing artists, photographers, and also people who just love graphics/photos on WC, and i wanted to pass on my FB and 500px pages:

http://500px.com/RomanDA/sets - 500px is an amazing site for photographers.  I go there to be inspired, and to realize how far i have to go.

and if you are on Facebook *(and who isnt right?) check out my "page" here: https://www.facebook.com/RomanDAPhotography

PLEASE BE KIND, as i said, im still just a beginner and learning what to do/not do.  I have had 0 training / classes etc.

Love CONSTRUCTIVE input.

Thanks all!

ps: if you see any photos you think would be good for Wallpapers, let me know, ill be happy to edit them to the sizes that would work.

I absolutely agree...it is simply unbelievable... what worth1000,com is to Ps, sort of.

I just recently discovered it, and honestly, I now blush with shame every time I look at my camera.

I'm really sorry to hear about your elbow... maybe training yourself to be more ambidextrous might help, but if it's that severe, surgery might be the option (not thinking 'amputation'... well short of that - pun? ). No matter what, maybe taking some of those 'sick days' to get it done? Whatever.

Anyway, I bless your effort at finding photonirvana... thanks for taking the pains (literally) to update us. Btw, the ipad has a free Dragonspeak app you can dictate into and it is amazingly accurate.

Thanks!  Im learning, and getting there.  My work load has been insane the past few years.  But not playing drums, i have gained back about 20-30% more strength in my elbow.  just crazy what abuse we do to ourselves.

Dave ... one often forgotten issue since all the manic hysteria pertaining to 'RSI'  [almost the AIDS of the technology generation] is Ergonomics.

.....even anthropomorphics....

But in reality....think 'posture'..... how a nagging pain in a shoulder can be caused by an ill-fitting shoe.

They shouldn't have called it 'RSI'.....it SHOULD have been 'BP-E'..... and it would have been 'cured' sooner.....

Jafo,

you are 100% correct, my problem is that im at the mercy of the plants i work in.  Some are great, some are horrible.  I try and re-organize things when i know im going to be working on-site for any length of time.  But sometimes there is nothing that i can do, and some of these are just horrible to work at.

I always enjoy looking through your photos when you post them on Facebook. You definitely have talent!

In my area we have an amateur photography club (and we are a small population) They meet monthly, have photo shoots, enter things with a state/regional photo club, go to seminars. Of course, you don't gotta do all that. Mostly they share shots between each other (it seems the bulk are digital, but some are not) Hints on F-stop, film speed, lenses, even some marketing. At our club there are some international known folks whose prints, digital and real, sell for thousands down to the backyard photographers with a $10 camera. The pros will tell you what what they learn from the novices is well worth the annual dues, and of course the other way around for the rest of us. Seeing in-person the photos that we have all taken and getting the feedback is past valuable. It gives confidence to hear someone whose shots you admire say something like, "That's really a nice shot, I'll have to do that some time."

Just something to try.  I used to go to computer club too, but everyone does that via internet any more. We need to touch real people more often than we do. Before we ruin our eyes completely (boy I miss my eyes)
